Was an interesting watch this one, online the reviews were savage, really digging into how far off the source material, and honestly they weren’t wrong. It had the general “vibe” of the book, but it certainly took it in a different direction and tried to make critiques of modern day people while still framing it with the original ideas.
I think the main problem for me was it was just sloppy and ham fisted with the morals it was trying to get over. I was playing a game of seeing how often they’d just straight up quote famous sayings and tell instead of show, and it was a lot. If it was a drinking game I would be very drunk about now. Other than that it suffered a lot from jumping from scene to scene with just a random cut instead of any transition, you could follow the story but it wasn’t a smooth journey.
It had some funny scenes though, and framing it as a bad movie watch, I would recommend it as you can get some good laughs as a group watch. I gave it a middle rating though because it just wasn’t amazingly badly funny as some others I’ve watched.
